Nick's. At one time I would have called myself a regular. If you eat here more than once you know what to expect. Sometimes its great sometimes you'll say it's been better. My go to is chicken tips over rice, greek salad add chicken, and the gyro. My wife loves the lasagna 7 out of 10 times. I've seen the owner be mean to employees and that can be off putting. I'm sure I'll be back. Pizza is good too. Not sure if they still do this, but use to be if you ordered a large pizza you got a small cheese free.

I've been coming to Nick's for years. To the point Andrew (little Yanni) greets me with a 'hey man'. But besides that, I have never had anything bad. EVER. As a matter of fact, I talked them into telling me how they cook their chicken tips before. *super secret*. Calzones are huge and killer. Don't pass up the option for their side Greek salad for fries... The dressing is great. Can't go wrong. I've tried it all. Even the eggplant parmesan. And I LOVE my meat treys... But that was great too.

I wondered how some gave it 3 stars and said they'd come back. Now I get it. It is totally average, but had its perks. The beer is cold and cheap, the pizza's average, and the wait staff is friendly. The screened in porch is a nice amenity, and allows smoking, which could be a point for or against, depending on your view. There are heaters on the porch, and fans, neither of which were in use because it's April. There aren't any TVs and it's not loaded with college students, which is hard to come by, especially in this town. The pizza was made with canned mushrooms, olives, and peppers which, for the price, was a bit disappointing. It was also kind of soupy in the middle, which better topping distribution probably would have eliminated. We got eggplant fries, which are not to be missed. All in all, we will be back. Wish I could give the place 3.5 stars.

Nicks House of Meh. The pizza is painfully greasy, loads upon loads of cheese... Prices are okay. It's not terrible, it's just average. I might try a grinder next time and steer clear of that greasy pie.

Good Greek food. They are a little slow with large groups. Prices going up. Desserts, sandwiches. Salads (Greek) good.

My first trip... After reading the reviews of poor service and "blah" food I was pleasantly surprised my first 10 mins. The waitress was nice and even payed attention to my table request ( away from a larger group). Both waitresses were busy but personable ( we had such good service with refills and sauce requests that I'm unsure who our waitress actually was). I do agree that the pizza topping ( Hawaiian ) tasted like Canned but still good. We also had eggplant fries, not too bad. We had a Greek calzone that was fresh and tasted good. Everything seemed to be made to order and reasonably priced. Will go back!!

I've been here 5 times in the past month. Why so many times? Because their pizza is just that good! I've had the house special, the extra special house special and the Hawaiian and all are excellent! The hand tossed dough crust is perfect - thin in the middle and crispy & chewy at the ends. Yes it gets a wee bit soggy in the middle but with so many toppings that's expected. The toppings are plentiful - my only request would before cheese. For now I just ask for extra and it's perfect. To me the sign of great pizza is if it tastes good reheated and theirs does. Pop it in the toaster oven for 10 min and that leftover tastes delish. They have lots of other Italian foods that look good too but until I satisfy my pizza fix I'll stick with that :) Oh and don't pass up the desserts in the bakery case: baklava, new york cheesecake, etc! Yum! The servers are friendly and quick to take orders and bring refills. Not sure how this place remains so 'undiscovered' on Yelp. Every time we come here there's lots of people eating and it doesn't matter the time of day.

The reviewer with 4-1/2 stars better get out more often. Service was efficient but had zero personality. Food was subpar. The chicken wings with teriyaki were tasty but everything else was blah. The pizza - blah. The manicotti - blah. The house salad - blah. The chicken calzone - blah. Most disappointing were the desserts. The waitress told us that the owners are Greek. We have enjoyed authentic Greek food and desserts in Tarpon Springs, Florida and this restaurant does not come close. The "Greek" desserts tasted as if they had been sitting for days and had been manufactured in mass and previously frozen. Columbia, SC if this is your best we will pass next time.

The pizza was sort of wet and all the ingredients seemed out of a can and the dough was definitely premade. I will never get pizza from them again.

I work down the street, and Nicks is always busy. We attempted to eat here once before, but left before being seated. Menu is your typical Greek menu. I decided on beef souvlaki, and my husband had a veggie Stromboli. I opted for the Greek side salad, and the hubs had a tossed side salad. My salad was almost warm.. The Greek dressing tasted like Italian seasoning and vinegar mixed with a minute amount of oil. Service was very slow for us. The table sat behind me were regulars and they were done eating and gone before our entrees arrived. Our waitress spent a great deal of time talking to them about their kids.. When our entrees came out, I noticed my husband's Stromboli was soggy, he ate it anyway. My souvlaki beef was bland. It said it came with onions and tomatoes, and I assumed they were cooked... Well you know what they say about assuming. Portions were decent.. Overall it is edible, but I'd rather drive the extra few miles and hit either of the other Greek places just a minute down the road.

Pizza is good (good not great and not bad, maybe a tad above average), and I could stop at that, but then you wouldn't get the full picture. Meal came with horrible service and a watery greek salad full of mostly the white part of iceburg lettuce. I was impressed with the sliver of tomato on it, just wish there'd been more than one bite. Obviously there was an attempt to be able to say the lunch special comes with a salad, but it was about a 5 cent salad, nothing you'd come to the restaurant to savor. The lunch special was supposed to come with bread. I guess that was the crust on my pizza or my crackers that came with the salad. There is wifi but the owner won't give out the password and there is no guest account, so don't think you're going to be able to work or play on the wifi because it's not for you. Beware at lunch tea is free but sodas are not. They are $1.95 plus tax.

I actually didn't see anyone eating Pizza at Nick's, but it did have that old pizzaria/Italian feel to it. While there was pizza on the menu, it was mostly Italian/Greek dinners. The food was quick! I actually ordered the souvlaki dinner (pork, with pita, fries and Greek salad). They brought the salads out first, naturally, and before I was 1/4 through my salad the food arrived (this was in a party of 5, so they had more to prepare than just mine). It was different than I'm accustomed to, but overall the food was ok. Their dressing for the salad had some serious bite, but the rest of the food was just slightly bland. Prices were a little high for lunch, but I guess it's no more than if you went to a chain restaurant (dine-in, not fast food). I'm way fuller than I thought I would be, too... One of our party ordered a small stromboli to take home and that thing was huge! I'll be going back to try one of those!

We just discovered this place last weekend, and ate there again this weekend. I'm from the Charlotte, NC area but my mother lives in small town not far from West Columbia. Last weekend my sister (from Maryland) and I were visiting my mother and were looking for a good place for supper. We found Nick's and got there pretty late (about 9 PM on Saturday). It wasn't crowded, but there were still some customers there. Since we were close to closing time, I was worried service would suffer but it absolutely did not. We had five people in our party, and our server (Lettecia) was very friendly and efficient, but didn't rush us at all. When we went last night, we arrived earlier than last time and there was a bigger crowd. Even so, we didn't have to wait for a table. It took a little longer for our food to come out, but it still wasn't what I would call slow service. Lettecia was our server again, and just as friendly as she was last week. Other servers seemed just as friendly to the other customers, and at one point someone from the kitchen (the owner, maybe?) came out to chat with the folks at another table. The food is fine-- nothing spectacular, but tasty, freshly prepared and good-sized portions. There are lots of choices on the menu, so even picky eaters should be able to find something to like here. Last week I had the pastitsio, and it was delicious. My husband had lasagna and definitely enjoyed it. Both came with salads and garlic bread. The salads were okay, but the bread could use a little more garlic butter. My sister had the gyro dinner and really liked it. Our teenage daughters had burgers and said they were very good. Last night, my husband had the lasagna again and he's definitely a fan. My daughter had a BLT sub and gave me a bite-- lettuce, tomatoes, lots of chopped bacon and cheese on a sub roll, heated just long enough to melt the cheese. It was excellent, and she enjoyed it. I had a Greek side-salad and the small cheese stromboli, which was different (came out "open faced") but yummy. I ordered baklava to take home both visits, and it was excellent. Next time I might try the cannoli. They have a pie-case at the front full of all kinds of gorgeous desserts. Prices were a bit higher than I would have thought in a place like this in West Columbia: Our supper last night totaled about $42.00, but as someone else previously noted that's really not much different than a chain sit-down restaurant. This is at least locally owned and very laid back, with friendly service and a comfortable atmosphere. We're definitely looking forward to visiting Nick's again when we are in SC to visit my Mom!

To note, this review is only concerning the quality of the food. I have been searching for a good pizza joint in Columbia for a while now and had been recommended this restaurant on multiple occasions. With a lackluster desire to cook for myself one night, I ventured to Nick's to enjoy one of their pizzas. In this case, I ordered their Greek pizza. Upon the arrival of said pizza, I was disappointed. The crust of a pizza should have crispness and character to it, be able to hold the toppings and hold its own against the toppings' flavor, but this crust lacked any of that complexity. Instead, the soggy crust was nonexistent and did not speak well of whatever oven they baked the pizza in. The flavor of toppings was all right, nothing to write home about but nothing to criticize. Regrettably, they were served on a crust not worthy of even just store bought pizza sauce. If you want good pizza, either make it at home or try elsewhere.

I'm a big fan of Nicks HOP! They have the best greek salad because it always has a ton of feta on it. I've had really good subs from there and their dinner pasta portions are HUGE. My boyfriend and I go there fairly often and are never dissapointed. The only thing that dissapoints me is that the garlic bread NEVER has enough garlic butter on it! Otherwise, it has great italian comfort food.

Huge selection of items, something for everyone, decent prices, crowded atmosphere. If you don't mind the crowd, this place is great for a dinner with friends. The portion sizes are extra-large, which is okay, but if you're not going home right afterwards, a waste. There was little room for the waitresses/other patrons to maneuver around our table because it was set diagonal to the rest of the room. I'm not sure how this was a good option, but hey, what can you do. I had the beef souvlaki (yep, good good) and my fiance ordered the small stromboli. Which is indeed a meal in itself. I recommend it to anyone who isn't shy or has picky eaters in the crowd. Many options and charming but somewhat cluttered atmosphere. But the food is delish. So 4 stars.

The stuffed shells at Nick's, $7.95, were perfect for lunch...filling comfort food as the weather turns cooler.
